Blood Donation Campaign (5th & 9th April 2004)
I guess we could call it a success, but there is also always a bad side to everything. The number of people who came to donate wan't really as good as I hoped, but the turnout was a turnout... I don't know of the current standings, but I guess our batch lost, last I checked.

Promotion started the past month, peaking to a video presentation to promote the Donation Drive and to encourage the student to donate their blood. Underlying message: We used the 2 bags of blood that was left, one for you and and the other for the doner himself. Brilliant job of acting and editting. Can't say anymore, just that you all did a wonderful job and great effort.

On Monday, 5th April, I manned the booth together with a few friends and started giving out froms and giving out instructions. Nearly lost our pens, but I manage to get all mine back. I couldn't really concentrate on my CSU questions as there was a sudden influx of people, it being lunch time where everybody is free. Our batchmates were either donating blood or have already donated. Some of them couldn't donate because of low blood count, aneamic, etc... well, it's the thought that counts. And I know of a few who donated when they are not supposed to. Yes, there is also a minimum weight thing, heh...

I left to go do my CSU and when I was done, we went back to help pack up. I stole some of the snacks provided for the doners, but there was so much left and not many people. So I packed up some for my housemates and as payment, I helped to clear up the area. After that, we calculated the final tally for the day, which was 25 for Sem1's and 24 for Sem2's. It was a good sign, and the people who were regular doners have not donated. We could actually win this, heh!

But of course today, Friday, 9th April, things change. Last I check before going to my Lab session, we were third. Sem3's being the highest. oh wow. There was still a queue and I pray that our batch will have some to add...

Ironically, I am incharge of the publicity of the campaign. Major role, encourage people to go for the donation. Me, I am a CHICKEN as I am afraid to donate myself. I don't know how to encourage myself let alone encourage other people to go. sigh, I am demoralized by this fact. And neither was I active as the publicity guy...

Lastly, I would like to give everyone who donated or tried to donate (out of their own good will and not the hamper) a pat on the back, saying You have done what I could not have done. And that's an encouraging thought I feel. Especially to the organisation committee, I apologise that I wan't much of a help, and the campaign was a job well done. Thank you all for your support in the April IMU Blood Donation Drive

1st April 2004, Thursday (KrazyKreaturez's Journal)

Let me think, I know this day is somewhat special, I just can't remember what... hmm... Is it someone's birthday? Could be, yeah, my punjab English teacher back in secondary school, yeah... no no no, something more interesting than that...

Anyway, nothing happened much today. Our dear Faci (is that how you spell it?) Mr. Paul Applenathan, came in late, we were halfway through our PBL, and well, we got it done quickly. Then we begged him to go through the next PBL and oh well, what da heck, done, all by 11.30pm. I left the room with the biggest section of the paragraph of the trigger. CSF. Whatever that is... I mean they had to give me the topic that has the most words and numbers! gah...

Oh yeah, catering food starts again. Gonna have to start enduring the food again, back to the good old days in singapore...
